Parsippany, NJ – November 16, 2016 – A mural honoring the history of Fort Hood and its relationship with the city of Killeen, Texas was dedicated on Veterans’ Day as part of the city’s festivities to recognize those who have served to defend our nation. Solix, Inc. sponsored the creation of the mural which also marked the continuing revitalization of the city’s downtown where Solix has its Texas office.
“We are incredibly grateful for Solix’ support of this mural project, which would not have been possible without their support. Their contribution is a testament to their dedication to our community and to the downtown revitalization efforts taking place,” said Jennifer Hetzel, director of strategic communications, Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce.
“Solix is pleased to have supported this project that brought the community together to honor those who have served our country and contributes to the resurgence of downtown Killeen,” Solix, Inc. President and CEO Jack Miller said.
Local artists, students, veterans and residents worked together to create the mural which the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce commissioned the Civic Killeen Art Guild to paint. The 75-foot long mural is located at Avenue D and Gray Street.
“There is a long tradition at Solix of getting involved in the communities where we work and live,” said Carolyn Flowers, operations manager for Solix in Killeen and local resident. “Sponsoring this mural project and having people from our Killeen office assist in painting it is a way for us to support the community.”
